After working for 10 years as an author of manuals for teaching Brazilian Portuguese in schools and also as a high school teacher, I took my interest in investigating the relation between linguistic analysis and textual genres to my career as a professor/researcher at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. I’m currently the PI of a research project at the Graduate Program in Portuguese Language Teaching whose main purpose is to survey the kinds of linguistic structures are more relevant to a given textual genre, store this information computationally, using annotation, and then producing teaching resources from the annotated texts.
