Madiha Hannachi

  • Madiha Hannachi is a PhD candidate of English at the Université de Montréal. Her dissertation is titled « Arab Shakespeare: Transcultural Adaptation, Collective Identity, and Alternative Leadership ». It examines the role of transcultural adaptation in shaping the idea of collective identity and the quest for alternative leadership in the Arab(ic) adaptations of William Shakespeare. Hannachi is interested in the phenomenon of transcultural adaptation as a political practice under autocracy, its relation to local cultural traditions, its impact on identity, and its aspiration to alternative leadership.Her research interests include transcultural adaptation, translation, and contemporary Shakespeare.
