Heather Goad

  • Heather Goad completed her PhD in Linguistics at the University of Southern California. She joined the Department of Linguistics at McGill University in 1992 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1998.

    Her research focuses on phonology and language acquisition. She is principally concerned with examining how representations can inform our understanding of patterns observed in the productions of first and second language learners.

    She teaches introductory courses in general linguistics and phonetics and more advanced courses in phonology and language acquisition.

    Heather Goad has been an Associate Editor of Language Acquisition since 2004. The journal publishes theoretically-informed research on the acquisition of phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics.
